Release Candidate One (v0.7.4)


v0.7.4 fixes:

  • Wisdom page cannot be navigated (fix also improves letters page)
  • "Tiny" games very occasionally hang (this situation now fails gracefully)
  • NPC sometimes running on the spot during conversations
  • Post Office name not showing correctly on menu pages at first
  • "Skip" icon on initial dialogue is confusing

And adds:

  • Interactable status of NPC can be cancelled

(Some of these were in v0.7.1, but I didn't write release notes for that because I realised I would be pushing out a pretty rapid follow-up.)

At this point, I've implemented all the features I want to implement (at least for version 1), know of no gameplay-impacting bugs, and the remaining known bugs are fundamentally difficult to fix. Either because they're difficult to reproduce, would require a fundamental rewrite of some component, or are down to issues in Unity or one of the assets I have insufficient control over. I'm therefore calling 0.7.4 Release Candidate One. I'll play it for a few more weeks, and try and get some more feedback, before making an Actual Release. It's a long way from perfect, but I'm not sure there's much practical scope for incremental improvement. It's not commercial, it's never going to be commercial, so I've no qualms about calling an end to active development (although I'll keep fixing any new bugs!) when it's not as polished as I'd really like.
